The NFL doesn’t care about Domestic Violence and it’s obvious.

I’m going to admit that I didn’t realize how many football players are involved in domestic violence incidents. I think the big reason is because the NFL does a great job at protecting the abuser instead of the victims.

The first time I really became aware of how serious of a problem this is was when the video of Ray Rice knocking his fiancé out and dragging her unconscious body out of the elevator and that made my blood boil.

The fact that he wasn’t concerned for his fiancé after she was unconscious and had the body language like it was an inconvenience to him to have to drag her out of the elevator was mind blowing. It also made me think that this probably isn’t the first time he’s put his hands on a woman.

After this video was released there was outrage on social media and it was revealed that the NFL knew about the incident and decided to do nothing. They changed there minds when the pressure was on them and they wound up disciplining Ray Rice for his actions. Ray Rice isn’t playing football now and trying to make a comeback.

They also pledged to bring awareness to domestic violence and even played a commercial during the Super Bowl about it.

It’s been two years since that incident and it appears that the NFL hasn’t learned it’s lesson on how to handle domestic violence situations within there organization.

The New York Giants kicker Josh Brown has recently been in the news for abusing his wife. She admitted that he assaulted her 20 times over the course of there marriage. He admitted in journals and emails that he physically and verbally abused his now ex wife Molly.

After this news came out the NFL placed him on paid leave. Let’s give this piece of shit paid time off for beating his wife on numberous occasions and admitting it in journals and emails. Really NFL? It doesn’t seem like you’ve learned anything since Ray Rice.

Why is Ray Rice not playing football right now but Josh Brown is on paid leave and could possibly keep his job? White male privelge is alive and well but that’s a topic for a different post.

It makes me wonder how much The New York Giants and the NFL knew about the history of Josh Brown abusing his wife?

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said 2 years ago “I got it wrong, the same mistake can not be repeated”

Giants co owner told WFAN radio that he was upset to hear of the information that was released about Josh Brown.

“I am certainly disturbed by what we read. He has admitted to us that he has abused his wife in the past. I think what is a little unclear is the extent of that, but what we have read is obviously disturbing.” Mara said on the radio after the incident.

The league has said that there investigators tried to get more information from the King County Sheriff office but were denied because it was an ongoing investigation. However the police deny that anyone in the NFL tried to contact them.

The NFL hasn’t changed the way they react to domestic violence situations and only seem to care when the media calls them out.

As a life long Giants fan I’m sad to hear that the organization is still paying this scumbag and seem to be fighting to keep him on the team. I thought this organization had better morals but I’m wrong.

It took them a while to wake up and come there senses but the Giants have released Josh from the team. Hopefully the he will never play football again.

Domestic violence abusers shouldn’t be treated with a slap on the wrist. There should be serious consequences for there actions.

I hope that one day the NFL not only says they are serious about this issue but they act on it as well.

Thoughts? Let me know in the comments.
